Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Native Fish Conservancy’s electronic publication now known as the Darter. It takes its name from the Darter family of fishes we hope this e-publication is like the Darter itself; colorful, small, interesting and speedy. We will change focus in this publication. Unlike the Flier our previous publication which had space issues due to printing and mailing costs, the Darter will be larger in color and be able to accommodate more significant published works.

The NFC has been reborn these last few months after its original Board of Directors disbanded and voted to place the NFC on ice. Unfortunately the NFC was not competing on the net any longer and it looked like lights out. After a few months a group of the members volunteered to take on the NFC and like the phoenix she was reborn. Several changes that stream lined things have taken place. All of our publications are now electronic, we no longer publish paper publications, the board of directors is a volunteer board who recruits from the general membership, the board controls things there is no president or other officers. Our primary focus is conservation and public education. We hope you enjoy the Darter and please stop by our site at www.nativefish.org and see what other changes we have made.
